Guatemala City here I come!

The 2022 Parachuting Beaver adventure has begun. I am in Miami waiting for my flight to Guatemala City. If you haven't heard I am going to live in Antigua, Guatemala for the summer to learn Spanish/Español. In case you want to see where Antigua is, here is a map. It is a UNESCO world heritage city in the Southwest of Guatemala. It is about an hour and a half southwest of Guatemala City, 🇬🇹 the capital.

If you're thinking to yourself "Ooooh how can I do that?", the program that I'm going through is called Máximo Nivel (https://maximonivel.com/destinations/guatemala/). Stay tuned to see how I like it. Now of course I'm nervous because my Spanish is spotty at best and I'm going to be living with a family that presumably speaks little to no English, and be in school 6 hours a day. Gulp! When I get overwhelmed at the thought I think about my favorite Study Hall student this year who came to the US with no English and with whom I really wanted to be able to communicate effectively.

While in Guatemala I will have a tiny amount of text, talk, and data so email and WIFI calling is the way to get me if you need me. Also, Guatemala City is 2 hours behind Eastern Standard Time, In Central Standard Time. This is the same as the USA Central Standard Time, which is for half the year. If the Sunshine Protection Act is passed by the House, then CST would permanently become CDT for America.
