Review STEM & engineering Lesson Plans
To help you work on the final Unit Plan project please use the links and documents below to investigate unit and lesson plans that other teachers have designed. These resources should be a guide only as each grade level has its unique challenges, needs and specifications. The first link labeled Unit Plan EDL 656-7 is the unit plan template that I have created to help guide you as you plan how to create a Unit plan for your classroom. As with all other resources please feel free to add, delete, change or not use this resource. This unit plan is meant to help you to create a useful product that can increase your students outcomes. Keeping this in mind investigate the following resources and spent time fleshing out the unit plan that your peers will review on the last night of class, and then you will present on.
Use these resources to investigate lessons, units and lesson/unit formats that will help you make progress on your summative project for this class. There are so many resources out there so don't limit yourself to just these examples.
Please read two articles, that are age appropriate for the students you serve. The articles can focus on any STEM topic or relate to the topic you have chose for your unit lesson plan that is due week 7 for peer review and possible submission. You can find good web-pages for articles in a list in your syllabus or just use Google. For one of the articles please make a Word Cloud that shows the frequency of word use in the article and explain how this kind of visual representation can be useful to a students understanding of a STEM topic. For the other please create a MEME that could be used as a hook to open a lesson or unit plan. Explain why you designed it as you did and what students can get out of this humerus lesson hook. Post each of these in your blog and share it with me. We will discuss them next week.
Here is an example of a Meme that I have used in class to get my students excited about diarrheal diseases such as dysentery, typhus and cholera that stem from a lack of clean water.
